From the President’s Pen…

If Jenny Argante should carry the blame for something, it might as well be for something great.

Double Vision, a collaboration between twelve Tauranga Writers writers and artists, was a unique concept. The premise was simple: a writer writes (as writers do), and an artist interprets the piece; an artist creates an artwork and their writing partner responds.
While some pairings worked closely together, others agreed to not see the work of the other until the launch on August 27.
Art, in whatever form, is the essence of whom we are, laid bare for all to see. Once completed and published, there’s no taking it back. Because no two people think alike, Double Vision became a nervous wait while someone else interpreted our view of the world.
It’s that diversity of creative thought, and subsequent burgeoning in both forms, that made this event so successful.
Thank you Jenny for the hard work and commitment to Double Vision. We rate it 20/20.
To John Beech, curator at Creative Tauranga, we extend special thanks for making his gallery available to us, and for his own displayed artistry as he hung each piece.
Double Vision is open for public viewing from August 28 to September 15 2010 – excluding Sundays.
