Fi Be Sullivan has a substantial body of work, poetry and prose, performed and published in the UK, Australia and New Zealand. She has a published novel, Allotted. And In 2023 Fi Be published Integrity, a selection of her poems. Fi B presented NPD 2024 last year in Tauranga City Library as a combination of workshop and poetry readings. She is working her magic there again this year.
Jenny Argante has been a creative writing tutor and a professional editor for over 40 years. Working in the Cracks Between was published by Oceanbooks, and in March 2025, Red Hen Books will publish a collection of poems on flight, both literal and metaphorical. Her work has appeared in Takahe, Poetry NZ, North and South, and Landfall.
As a forerunner to National Poetry Day 2024, writers Fi Be Sullivan and Jenny Argante are combining forces to share their experiences of writing, reading and performing poetry. Learn what makes a good poem and, occasionally, a great poem, and how to present yourself effectively at poetry readings, in performance, or on the page.
We encourage you to bring a poem, your own or a favourite from a New Zealand poet, for sharing on the day
